GvK's Glaive Design
As requested by several Dagorhir UBB patrons, here is my (GvK's) glaive design.
It is NOT for the faint of heart as to successfully execute the design takes LOTS of different foam types and thicknesses and GREAT attention to detail. In general, you can try to make it entirely with "blue camping" foam instead of EVAlite but the unifoam ("gray high density computer foam") is a MUST! Both can be purchased online from McMaster-Carr Supply Company. I also HIGHLY recommend using a Bandshoppe pole. However, Bandshoppe recently jacked the prices steeply for buying less than 5+ poles at a time. Thus, I highly recommend working with others to place a bulk order - you'll be glad you did.
One last thing, it is critical to reinforce/stabilize the "head/built-out" portion of the glaive (both stabbing and striking) using duct tape and wide athletic cloth "grip" tape. Obviously, most of this is applied from the sides and across the back, NOT over the striking/stabbing edges. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to explain how to do this via text or even the figure - you'll see what I mean as you build it.
